About Phone Drops
Who we are, what we publish, how it is checked, who pays for it, and what happens when we are wrong. If any of this is not being followed, that is a mistake worth telling us about.
What this site is for
Phone Drops answers two questions: when is a new flagship phone actually coming out, and is the next one close enough that you should wait. Almost every phone site answers the first with a rumour and the second with an opinion. We answer the first with the manufacturer's own announcement, linked, and the second with the real launch history of that product line.
That is a deliberately narrow job. We would rather be the most reliable source on a small set of facts than an unreliable source on a large one.
What we cover, and what we refuse to
We cover new flagship phone and foldable launches, on the day they are announced: full specifications, regional prices, an honest first read, and written comparisons where a pair is worth one. We do not cover rumours, leaks, supply-chain reports, renders, or anything else that has not been announced by the company that makes the phone. We do not backfill old models to pad the site out.
Everything is published in English and Slovak for now. A language is added only once we can hold it to native quality and have a retailer for that market, so no edition is ever published purely to be monetised later.
We do not accept payment, hardware, travel or any other consideration in exchange for coverage, or for the angle of coverage. Nobody outside the editorial desk sees an article before it is published, and no manufacturer or retailer has any right of review over what we write.
Where every fact comes from
A date or a specification is published only once it appears on a page the manufacturer controls: its newsroom, its official product or spec page, its own store listing, or a verified brand account. Wire services, other outlets and aggregators are not sources for us. Every article lists the pages it was written from.
Where a global page and a regional page disagree on a value, we use the global (or EU) page and say which one we used. Prices are quoted in the phone's first market, with an approximate euro and dollar conversion clearly marked as a conversion. Numbers change fast after launch, so confirm the final details with the manufacturer or retailer before you buy.
We do not test phones. We run no benchmarks, no battery tests and no camera comparisons of our own. When a performance or endurance figure appears here it is the manufacturer's claim, and the sentence around it says so. A spec sheet is not a measurement, and we will not present one as if it were.
How these articles are written
Articles are drafted with the help of AI tools and are then read, fact-checked against the primary sources and edited by a person before anything is published. Nothing goes live unread. The editor named below is responsible for every published word, whatever produced the first draft; the verdict, the pros and the cons are our judgement, not machine output.
We are telling you this because it is true and because you would be entitled to be annoyed to find it out later. It changes nothing about the standard the text is held to: every figure in an article has to be traceable to a source in that article's own list, and anything that cannot be traced is cut rather than softened.
Corrections
We will get things wrong. When we do, we want to hear about it quickly and we would rather fix it in public than quietly.
Write to corrections@phone-drops.com with the page and what is wrong on it. You do not need to be polite about it and you do not need to prove it: if it is checkable we will check it. We aim to reply within one working day.
If a factual error changes what the piece means (a wrong launch date, a wrong price, a wrong specification, a wrong claim about availability), we correct it and add a dated note at the foot of the article saying what it said before and what changed. That note stays there permanently. We do not silently rewrite a published fact and hope nobody kept a screenshot.
Typos, broken links, clumsy sentences and formatting faults we simply fix, with no note. If an entire article turns out to be wrong at its foundation, we withdraw it, leave the URL live with an explanation of why it was withdrawn, and never delete the page: a dead link is a worse answer than an honest retraction.
The same applies to the release calendar. If a manufacturer moves a date, we move it and record the new source. If we recorded a date wrongly in the first place, that is a correction and it gets a note.
Who we are
Phone Drops is published by Tomáš Lovnianský, a sole trader registered in Slovakia (IČO 45416605, Piešťany). He is the legal publisher, the operator of the shop and the data controller; the full registration details are on the Legal notice page.
Editorial responsibility, which means deciding what gets covered, writing it, checking it and answering for it, is his too: he designed the site and its structure and edits everything that appears on it. He can be reached directly at hello@phone-drops.com.
That is the whole masthead. One person, not a media network, and not owned by or affiliated with any phone manufacturer or retailer. We would rather say so plainly than write in the corporate plural about a newsroom that does not exist.
How this is paid for
By affiliate links to one retailer, and by nothing else today. The Slovak edition links to Alza.sk, which pays a commission when a reader buys through it, at no extra cost to the reader. There is no sponsored content and no paywall. The two ad slots on the site are static and labelled, and they stay empty until someone buys them; a sold slot never touches the editorial text.
Every affiliate link is marked sponsored, and the commission never depends on what a review says. If a phone we would earn money on is not worth buying, the article says it is not worth buying. The English edition carries no retail links at all, because we hold no worldwide partner and pointing an international reader at one country's shop would be worse than pointing them nowhere.
We will not run paid reviews, sponsored articles dressed as coverage, or partner content. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
Your privacy
No analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies. The site stores two things, both of them choices you made: your language and whether you want the light or the dark theme. The privacy and cookie pages have the detail.
